1. The 70% calculation is based on a £9,310 system (8x505W panels, 5kWh battery, south-facing 35 (degree) London roof, 26.35p/kWh unit rate, 0.15p/kWh export). MCS estimates 3975kWh/year, covering 70% of a typical 3,500kWh households needs, saving £37,602 over 25 years.
2. The 1.9p per mile calculation is based on the Tesla Model Y, which has an EV efficiency of 0.22 kWh per mile. Multiplying 0.22 by So EV's off-peak rate of 8.8p per kWh (between the hours of midnight and 5am) results in the cost of 1.94p per mile (which we round down to 1.9p per mile). We use the Tesla Model Y because it was the UK's best-selling car in 2025.
