If you choose to leave your fixed rate contract early, you will be asked to pay an exit fee. You can view your early exit fees on your online account in 'My So Tariff' or on your bill where we lay out your current tariff details.
When you're nearing the end of your contract, exit fees do not apply. This allows you some wiggle room to change tariff or supplier. We will email you to let you know when you're in this period.
Why do you charge an exit fee?
Exit fees cover the administration cost for interrupting your tariff agreement early. This includes our staff changing things promptly for you, as well as rearranging how we buy our customers’ energy (we buy this for you in advance).
We believe our exit fee is a fair reflection of the cost involved.
I want to change my So Energy tariff. Will I be charged exit fees?
Yes, if you're in the middle of your current agreement, exit fees apply. Costs are incurred by ending your contract early and starting a new fixed tariff agreement. Please contact us if you would like to find out if changing tariffs will save you money.
I am moving home. Will I be charged exit fees?
If you are moving home and would like to take us with you, we must register your new property onto a new fixed tariff agreement (we cannot move your agreement with you). Because of this, we will not charge exit fees on the final bill for your old property. Find out more in our guide to Moving Home.
I want to switch to a different supplier. Will I be charged exit fees?
You will not be charged exit fees if you start switching to a different supplier within 49 days of the end of your fixed contract. If you switch at any other time and you have a fixed tariff agreement with So Energy, exit fees will apply.
I want to switch to So Energy. Will I be charged exit fees?
If you are in the last 49 days of your contract you cannot be charged exit fees. Your supplier will write to you towards the end of your contract to inform you of your options and let you know that exit fees no longer apply. If you are wondering if your current supplier will charge exit fees, we recommend checking the terms of your current energy contract or speaking directly to your energy supplier.
